Privacy & terms
What you get, what we keep, and what we never do.
The plain rules for using Lightkeeper. The short version: a plan is recommendations, not engineering; your bills stay private; and analytics here uses no cookies and never sees what you type.
A Payback Plan is a written set of recommendations, based on the bills and information you give us and on programs’ published terms on the day we checked them. It ranks actions, estimates what each could save and cost, and lists programs that may help.
It is not engineering: not an inspection, a design, or a safety assessment. Anything structural, electrical, mechanical, or involving gas goes to a licensed professional you choose.
Savings and costs in a plan are estimates, not guarantees. Real results depend on weather, how the building is used, prices, contractors, and decisions only you make. Program rules, amounts, and deadlines belong to the programs and can change; always confirm with the program before you act.
Payback Plans are free for congregations and nonprofits. Small businesses pay $99, only after an intro call and a written proposal. The fee is refunded if the plan doesn't find more than $99 a year in savings.
You decide what to do with a plan. Lightkeeper is not responsible for the results of work you choose to do, for decisions made by utilities or programs, or for losses that follow from relying on an estimate. If something we did goes wrong, the most we would owe you is what you paid us for that plan.
The inquiry form asks for no bills or account numbers. When you send it, your name, email, organization, and message (plus any role, town, phone, or call time you add) are emailed to our inbox through our email provider, used only to reply to you, and deleted after 12 months or whenever you ask. If you choose to include your waste-check answers, they stay in your own browser tab until you send the form yourself.
Utility bills are asked for only after a call, and only if we’re a fit. A bill usually shows the account number, service address, meter and usage readings, charges and rate class. Bills you send are kept in a private Google Drive folder. Who can open them: Lightkeeper's operator. They are used only to produce your plan and deleted after 12 months, or sooner whenever you ask.
No sale, no sharing. We do not sell, rent, or share anything you send us: not your inquiry, not your bills, not your plan. No installer, contractor, utility, or program receives your details from us unless you ask us to make an introduction.
This site uses Vercel Web Analytics, which works without cookies. Vercel says it identifies a visit with a hash made from the request, discards that after 24 hours, and stores only aggregated data that cannot identify a person.
For each page view it can record the time, the page address, the referring site, a rough location (country, region, city), and the device type, operating system, and browser. We send page addresses without anything after a question mark, so nothing typed into a link travels with it.
Beyond page views, the site records only these events:
- inquiry_started: someone first clicks into an inquiry form (sends: congregation or business)
- inquiry_submitted: an inquiry is actually delivered (sends: congregation or business)
- calculator_started: someone first uses the waste check (sends nothing else)
- calculator_completed: the waste check shows an estimate (sends: organization type only, never the amounts or answers)
- specimen_viewed: the specimen Payback Plan is opened (sends nothing else)
- specimen_printed: the specimen's print button is pressed (sends nothing else)
- program_entry_viewed: a program directory entry is opened (sends: the program's short name)
- outbound_program_click: someone follows a link to a program's own site (sends: the program's short name, not the link)
Never sent to analytics: what you type into any form, names, email addresses, phone numbers, organization names, utility bill details, or dollar amounts.
Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control are honored. If your browser sends either signal, the analytics script does not load and no event is sent. Analytics also runs only on the live site, never on test or preview copies.
